Matthew Murphy

Matthew Murphy is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Physical Therapy at the Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Binghamton University. He joined in January 2022 after 15 years of clinical practice in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy in the Binghamton area, including roles as clinic director. He is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy.

• BS in Health and Exercise Physiology, Syracuse University

Research & Clinical Focus: Murphy specializes in musculoskeletal and sports-related conditions, with interests in ACL rehabilitation, motor learning, biomechanics, and nutritional impacts on musculoskeletal health. He emphasizes orthopedics, sports medicine, functional movement assessment, and manual therapy.

Teaching & Administration: He teaches orthopedics, musculoskeletal topics, manual therapy, and therapeutic exercise. He also focuses on clinic management, administration, and developing orthopedic physical therapy residency programs.
