Matthew Luskin is an Associate Professor at the University of Queensland's School of the Environment and Director of the Wildlife Observatory of Australia. He leads the Ecological Cascades Lab, investigating wildlife ecology, conservation science, and trophic interactions.
His research examines how land-use changes, hunting, and climate change impact wildlife communities and ecological processes. Current projects include: predator-prey dynamics in Southeast Asian forests; conservation applications of camera trapping; and ecological cascades from apex predator loss. He directs TERN's Wildlife Observatory, developing national wildlife monitoring protocols.
Luskin's publications demonstrate consistent focus on conservation biology, with recent work examining protected area effectiveness, hyperabundant species management, and camera trap methodologies. His research combines field ecology with technological innovation in conservation science.
