Matthew Lombard is an Associate Professor at Temple University, affiliated with the Lew Klein College of Media and Communication and the Media Studies and Production department. He contributes to the Media & Communication doctoral program and specializes in media psychology, particularly the concept of (tele)presence.
- Education:
- PhD in Communication from Stanford University
- BA in Psychology/Administrative Studies from University of California, Riverside
Lombard teaches courses in media theory and research methodology, including content analysis, experimental methods, and statistical analysis. His research explores how individuals process media psychologically and physiologically, focusing on the illusion of being in mediated environments.
He co-founded the International Society for Presence Research, where he serves as president, advancing interdisciplinary studies on presence phenomena.
