Matthew Linden is an Associate Professor of Haematology and Transfusion Science at The University of Western Australia's School of Biomedical Sciences. He leads curriculum development for the Master of Clinical Pathology and supports undergraduate teaching in Biomedical Sciences. His research focuses on platelet biology in health and disease, contributing to diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies. He holds leadership roles in national and international scientific societies, including the Australasian Cytometry Society and the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists.
Matthew has secured significant funding from organizations like the WA Department of Health, Telethon Foundation, and Cancer Council WA. His current projects include developing novel blood tests for myeloproliferative neoplasms and improving monitoring for myelofibrosis patients.
His research interests span platelet function in myeloproliferative neoplasms, burn survivors, and cardiovascular diseases. He is a leader in cytometry standardization and has pioneered educational frameworks for medical laboratory scientists.
Key awards include the Marylou Ingram Scholar (2016). He advises on government research infrastructure and contributes to editorial boards of cardiovascular journals.
