Matthew Levinger

Matthew Levinger is Professor of Practice of International Affairs and Director of the National Security Studies Program at George Washington University. A full-time faculty member, he specializes in conflict analysis, genocide prevention, nationalism studies, and modern European history. His career includes roles as Senior Program Officer at the U.S. Institute of Peace and Founding Director of the Academy for Genocide Prevention at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Education: Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Research focuses on conflict prevention mechanisms, revolutionary politics, and historical case studies such as Prussia's transformation post-1806.

Publications emphasize practical conflict resolution frameworks and historical analyses, including Conflict Analysis: Understanding Causes, Unlocking Solutions (2013) and Enlightened Nationalism (2000).
