Matthew J. Kyan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at York University's Lassonde School of Engineering. His research addresses the efficient organization, management, and analysis of media-rich datasets while developing intuitive human-computer and computer-mediated interaction modes.

Dr. Kyan's accolades include the Siemens National Prize for Innovation (Australia, 1999) and active involvement in IEEE societies (Signal Processing, Computational Intelligence, Engineering in Medicine and Biology), where he currently serves as Treasurer for the IEEE EMBS Toronto Chapter. Prior to York University, he was instrumental in establishing Ryerson University's Centre for Interactive Multimedia Information Mining (CIM2) in 2008.
