Matthew J Evans, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His research focuses on host-virus interactions, particularly hepatitis C virus (HCV) entry mechanisms, miR-122 regulation of HCV replication, and the development of animal models for HCV infection.
- PhD, Columbia University
- Postdoctoral Fellow, The Rockefeller University
Research interests include cell biology of viral entry, microRNA-virus interactions, and immunocompetent animal models for HCV. The Evans Lab developed the first polarized cell system for HCV research and established pigtail macaques as the only immunocompetent HCV animal model.
