Matthew Hall is a Senior Lecturer in Operations and Service Management at Aston Business School, part of the College of Business and Social Sciences at Aston University. He holds a PhD in Knowledge Management from the Open University (2001), an MSc in Information & Library Studies from Loughborough University (1995), and a BA in Oriental Studies from the University of Cambridge (1990). A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2007, his research focuses on knowledge economy skills, technology transfer, and international higher education dynamics. His teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate modules including Knowledge at Work, Perspectives on Business and Management, and Knowledge Management.

Recent work explores governance challenges in Saudi universities, the role of team dynamics in knowledge transfer partnerships, and competitiveness of Chinese state-owned enterprises. His 2023 study on Saudi higher education governance highlights implementation barriers like autonomy deficits and regulatory delays. He has contributed to conferences on education policy, manufacturing innovation, and social media impact.
