Matthew Grossman, MD, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine and a pediatric hospitalist at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital. He serves as Vice Chair for Quality in the Department of Pediatrics and as the Quality and Safety Officer at YNHCH, leading initiatives to improve neonatal and pediatric care quality and safety.

Dr. Grossman completed his MD at SUNY Stony Brook in 2003 and pediatric residency at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital in 2006.
His research focuses on neonatal care, healthcare quality, and patient safety, with particular expertise in Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), hyperbilirubinemia, and opioid-exposed infants. He has pioneered non-pharmacological approaches that reduce hospital stays and medication use by promoting maternal-infant bonding.
His recent publications (2021–2024) reflect a strong trend in improving outcomes for opioid-exposed infants, standardizing clinical definitions, enhancing parental education, and optimizing neonatal care delivery. These works span journals in pediatrics, neonatology, addiction, and quality improvement.
