Matthew Gaskin is the Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor, Planning and Development for the Faculty of Health, Science and Technology, and Associate Dean Strategy and Development at Oxford Brookes University. He holds leadership roles in the School of Architecture, overseeing academic strategy and development. His educational background includes a BSc Hons, a Diploma in Advanced Architectural Studies, and a PGCTHE. His research focuses on architectural theory, history, and practical applications such as urban regeneration and the integration of animation into architecture. He is a member of the ARENA research group and has contributed to professional organizations like the RIBA.
Research interests include architectural pedagogy, the influence of Anglo-American figures like Robert Morris, and the intersection of architecture with cultural and technological trends. He has published a book chapter in Radical Pedagogies: Architectural Education and the British Tradition (2015). As a Programme Leader and design studio instructor, he has shaped architectural education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Matthew has led initiatives such as the Part 1 and Part 2 Architecture programmes and teaches architectural theory for the Pomona Programme. His professional experience includes practicing with firms like Keppie Henderson Architects and contributing to projects like the Aberdeen Bicentennial Inventory.
