Matthew Franks is an Associate Professor of English and Theatre Studies at the University of Warwick's Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies, where he has taught since 2017. His office is located in the Faculty of Arts Building (FAB5.13) on University Road in Coventry.
Research Focus: Franks specializes in Victorian through contemporary theatre, with parallel interests in book history, media studies, and digital humanities. His current projects include: 1) Theatre's relationship with public service messaging and the welfare state since 1939, and 2) A cultural history of Britain's Central Office of Information (1946-2011). He co-convenes TaPRA's Theatre and Performance Histories working group with Nicholas Holden and Philippa Burt.
