Matthew Feminella

Matthew Feminella serves as an Associate Professor of German within the Department of Modern Languages & Classics at the University of Alabama, where he also holds critical advisory roles for the Fulbright Program and IGSEP/Study Abroad initiatives.

His educational foundation includes a PhD (2016) and MA (2010), both earned at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Feminella's research centers on eighteenth and early nineteenth-century German literature, intellectual history, and philosophy, with rigorous examination of Enlightenment-Romantic transitions. His scholarly focus reveals deep engagement with philosophical discourse embedded in literary traditions of German-speaking regions, particularly exploring intersections between aesthetic expression and epistemological frameworks during transformative historical periods.
