Matthew F. Bush

Matthew F. Bush is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Washington, part of the College of Arts & Sciences. He also affiliates with the Department of Biochemistry, the Biological Physics, Structure and Design Program, and the Molecular Engineering & Sciences Institute. His research focuses on developing mass spectrometry techniques to study protein structures and dynamics, particularly in protein homeostasis. Dr. Bush holds a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley (2008) and a B.A. from Carleton College (2003). His postdoctoral work at the University of Cambridge and Oxford included pioneering frameworks for ion mobility mass spectrometry.

Research Interests: The Bush Lab develops mass spectrometry-based methods to elucidate the structures and assembly of biological molecules, such as protein complexes and subcellular machines. Recent work includes crosslinking approaches for intrinsically disordered proteins and advanced workflows for antibody characterization.
