Matthew Cook is an Assistant Professor of Illustration & Animation and Faculty Fellow at the Center for Design Research within the University of Kansas' School of Architecture & Design. He holds academic and professional dual expertise in design and computer science, with degrees from KU including a B.F.A. (2010), M.S. (2007), and B.S. (2005) in Computer Science.
His research focuses on visual development for animation/video games, digital painting, and storytelling. He blends traditional and modern 2D/3D techniques, often exploring sci-fi themes, cryptids, and mechanical design. Professional work includes roles as a visual development artist, freelance illustrator for Penguin Books and Simon & Schuster, and head of Ghost View Studios' art department.
