Matthew Blair

Matthew Blair is a Research Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Tennessee State University's College of Agriculture. He specializes in plant breeding and molecular genetics for legumes and underutilized crops, focusing on biofortification and stress resistance. He holds a Ph.D. in Plant Breeding from Cornell University and previously served at CIAT and Sheffield University.

His research includes genome-wide association studies in common beans, allele mining in cowpeas, and amaranth diversity characterization. He leads international collaborations on crop adaptation and teaches graduate courses in plant breeding. Blair directs genomics research through the Plant Genomics & Genetics Lab.
