معرفی
Matthew Adams is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography & Planning at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on Health & Wellbeing, Planetary Health, and Pollution & Air Quality, with an emphasis on environmental justice and urban sustainability. His work integrates geospatial analytics, mobile monitoring technologies, and interdisciplinary approaches to address public health challenges exacerbated by air pollution, climate change, and structural inequities.
Adams explores the intersection of urban environments and human health through studies on topics such as pandemic healthcare access for racialized populations, microclimatic impacts of urban sprawl, and the carcinogenic effects of particulate matter. He has pioneered the use of UAV-based sensors for high-resolution air quality measurements and has analyzed the socio-ecological consequences of wildfires and traffic emissions across regions like Ontario, Brazil, and Rwanda.
His research also addresses spatial disparities in green space access, school commute pollution exposure, and the governance of environmental health risks. Adams collaborates with communities and policymakers to translate data-driven insights into actionable strategies for equitable urban development.
