Matteo Solinas is an Associate Professor in the School of Private and Commercial Law at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He holds advanced degrees including a PGCAP from the University of Glasgow, a PhD from the London School of Economics, and an LLM (Distinction) from the University of Warwick. His research focuses on company law, financial regulation, and personal property law, with a particular emphasis on EU legal frameworks and emerging digital financial instruments. Prior to academia, he practiced corporate law in Milan and served as a qualified solicitor in England and Wales (non-practicing).
Before joining UNSW, he was an Associate Professor in Commercial Law at Victoria University of Wellington and held roles at the University of Glasgow, the Bank of England’s Financial Markets Law Committee, and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. His work bridges traditional corporate law with modern challenges like cryptocurrency regulation and central bank digital currencies.
