Matteo Maggiori is the Moghadam Family Professor of Finance at Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) and a Senior Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research. His research focuses on international finance, macroeconomics, and the intersection of economics with geopolitical strategy. He holds a PhD from UC Berkeley (2012) and has prior experience as a currency trader at JP Morgan.
Key contributions include the Global Capital Allocation Project, which redefines understanding of global investment flows through tax havens, and work on long-term discount rates using housing markets. Awards include the Fischer Black Prize (2021) and Bernácer Prize (2022). He teaches courses on international finance and advises on policy issues related to geoeconomics and currency competition.
