معرفی
Matteo Crismani is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at California State University, San Bernardino, and serves as Director of the Murillo Family Observatory since 2022. His work bridges planetary science, atmospheric physics, and interplanetary dust dynamics, with a focus on Mars through participation in missions such as NASA's MAVEN, ESA's TGO, and JAXA's Martian Moons eXplorer (MMX).
- Appointments: Assistant Professor (2020–present), Murillo Family Observatory Director (2022–present), NASA Postdoctoral Fellow (2018–2020), Postdoctoral Researcher (2017–2018).
- Education: Ph.D. (2017, University of Colorado, Boulder), B.S. (2012, University of California, Santa Cruz).
His research specialties include spectroscopic analysis of planetary atmospheres, development of data pipelines for space missions, and comparative modeling of atmospheric chemistry and dust dynamics. Notably, he pioneered techniques to detect Mg+ emissions in Mars' mesosphere (2017, Nature Geoscience). Current projects involve characterizing meteoric smoke particles linked to interplanetary dust and advancing nadir observing pipelines for TGO's NOMAD spectrometer.
Scientific Awards:
- NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) Fellowship (2018).
Crismani contributes to graduate and undergraduate education through courses in astrophysics, computational physics, and introductory planetary science. He collaborates with international teams on Mars exploration and planetary modeling initiatives.
