Matt Wilkerson is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Biology Department at Carson-Newman University. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Carson-Newman and later a Master of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Tennessee. Prior to joining the faculty, he worked as a Church Youth Director and owned a Bike Shop.

His research interests span fundamental biological sciences, including cellular and molecular mechanisms, genetics, and biochemical processes. Wilkerson also contributes to scientific education through his advisory role.
