Matt Townsley

Matt Townsley is a Part-Time Instructor in the Department of Leadership, Research, and School Improvement within the College of Education at the University of West Georgia. He holds an Ed.D. in School Improvement from UWG (2017), complemented by a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Iowa and an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instructional Technology from Iowa State University.

His research specializes in standards-based grading reform, with publications examining implementation challenges, student readiness outcomes, and mastery-based assessment systems. Townsley's work provides practical frameworks for K-12 institutions transitioning to competency-based evaluation models.
