Matt Parlow is Professor and President-elect of Chapman University, holding the Parker S. Kennedy Chair in Law at the Dale E. Fowler School of Law, with presidency effective September 2, 2025. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President/Chief Advancement Officer and Dean of the Fowler School of Law.
His educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Arts in History, magna cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University
- Juris Doctor from Yale Law School
Professor Parlow specializes in Sports Law, Local Government Law, and Urban Redevelopment, with scholarship examining intersections of legal frameworks and municipal policy. His leadership in the Association of American Law Schools includes chairing the State and Local Government Law and Sports Law sections, driving academic discourse in these fields.
As Dean, he achieved record graduate employment and financial stability for the law school while matriculating historically strong student cohorts. As Executive Vice President, he led a 200+ member advancement team that secured $72 million in 2022-23 fundraising and launched Chapman's $500 million 'Inspire' comprehensive campaign, establishing new professorships and expanding curricular innovation.
