Matt Mifflin

Matt Mifflin serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Guitar in the Department of Music at Carthage College, where he champions stylistic diversity in guitar pedagogy and performance.

Education:

• Master of Music in Classical Guitar Performance, Northwestern University
• Bachelor of Arts in Classical Guitar Performance, University of Wisconsin-Parkside

His expertise spans historical and contemporary guitar traditions, with active performance in early music ensembles (classical/baroque guitar, Renaissance lute) and modern contexts (metal groups, operas, musicals). Research focuses on Guitar Performance techniques across eras, Early Music repertoire interpretation, Contemporary Music applications, and innovative Music Education methodologies for diverse learners.

Mr. Mifflin advises students through Carthage College's guitar program and maintains a private studio in Kenosha, WI, providing instruction in classical, electric, and acoustic guitar for all ages and proficiency levels.
