Jakob Lindberg

Jakob Lindberg ARCM, FRCM serves as Professor of Lute, archlute, theorbo and historical guitar at the Royal College of Music's Historical Performance faculty. With extensive expertise in early music performance, he has established himself as one of the world's finest lutenists through his solo performances and ensemble work.

Lindberg's research and performance interests focus on Renaissance and Baroque music, particularly specializing in lute performance on historical instruments. His work has brought Scottish lute music to public attention and demonstrated the beauty of Italian repertoire for chitarrone. He is recognized as one of the most prolific performers in the early music field, with particular expertise in lute, archlute, theorbo and historical guitar performance.

As an active continuo player on theorbo and archlute, Lindberg has collaborated with many well-known English ensembles. His performance career has been characterized by pioneering recordings that present previously unrecorded music, significantly contributing to the field of historical performance practice.
