Dr. Matt Lindsay is Professor and NSERC Industrial Research Chair in Mine Closure Geochemistry at the University of Saskatchewan. His research program investigates geochemical processes in mining environments, focusing on mine closure strategies, metal-mineral interactions, and groundwater quality. He maintains professional geoscientist certifications in Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
His laboratory examines environmental mineralogy, contaminant behavior, and remediation techniques for mining-impacted systems. Key research areas include the geochemical cycling of metal(loid)s, mineral transformation processes, and developing sustainable solutions for mine waste management.
Recent publications demonstrate extensive work on permafrost-affected systems, mineral-water interfaces, and innovative analytical approaches for contaminant characterization.
Honors include the prestigious NSERC Industrial Research Chair award supporting his mine closure geochemistry investigations.
