Dr. Judah's research centers on cognitive processes in depression and anxiety, with a focus on attentional bias, cognitive control, emotion regulation, and repetitive negative thinking. His lab employs ERP techniques to examine neural correlates of these processes, particularly in social anxiety and post-event rumination. He emphasizes training students from underrepresented backgrounds and fostering an inclusive lab environment.
The 15 most recent publications reflect a consistent trajectory in clinical cognitive neuroscience, with increasing emphasis on multi-method approaches, mediational models (e.g., boredom and repetitive thinking as mediators), and real-world mental health challenges such as those exacerbated by the pandemic. His work integrates behavioral, self-report, and neurophysiological data, demonstrating expertise across assessment modalities in affective science.
Scientific Contributions and Mentoring:
- Mentored numerous graduate and undergraduate students, many of whom are co-authors on his publications.
- Active contributor to high-impact journals including Biological Psychology, Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology, and Emotion.
- Teaches graduate and undergraduate courses such as Clinical Practicum (PSYC607V), Advanced Behavioral Neuroscience (PSYC6133), and Biopsychology (PSYC3173).
- Not currently accepting new PhD students for Fall 2024 admission.
Dr. Judah is committed to advancing scientific understanding of affective disorders through rigorous methodology and inclusive training. His lab, the CODA Laboratory, actively promotes diversity in neuroscience and psychology and values systemic justice in research and mentorship.
