Dr. Matt Homer is an Associate Professor at the University of Leeds, affiliated with the School of Medicine and the Leeds Institute of Medical Education. His expertise spans medical education assessment, psychometrics, and post-16 mathematics education. He chairs the Assessment Research Group and contributes to external advisory roles with the General Medical Council (GMC) and Physician Associate National Exam Development Group.
Research interests focus on
- Medical education assessment, particularly examiner stringency in OSCEs and generative AI applications
- Post-16 mathematics education, including the uptake of the Core Maths qualification in England
- Psychometric analysis and standard setting methods for high-stakes assessments
