Matt Ferkany is an Associate Professor in Philosophy at Michigan State University's Lyman Briggs College. His scholarship centers on normative ethical problems tied to moral education, well-being, and environmental ethics and education.

He leads a Spencer Foundation-funded project exploring environmental education through character development, democratic education, and environmental virtue ethics. He is currently working on a book about ethics in science and environmental education, and welcomes opportunities to advise graduate students.
