Matt Ferkany is an Associate Professor in Philosophy at Michigan State University's Lyman Briggs College. His scholarship centers on normative ethical problems tied to moral education, well-being, and environmental ethics and education.

He leads a Spencer Foundation-funded project exploring environmental education through character development, democratic education, and environmental virtue ethics. Ferkany has published in journals such as Pacific Philosophical Quarterly, Environmental Values, and Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Ethics. He is currently working on a book about ethics in science and environmental education, and welcomes opportunities to advise graduate students.
