Matt Dingledine is a Professor of Jazz Guitar and Director of Jazz Combos at Furman University. He also serves as the owner of Music on Mitchell, a music education business, and is a co-founder and Director of Operations for the Greenville Jazz Collective (GJC), which has been recognized as Best Jazz Band of the Upstate. His roles include guitarist for the Latin-pop group Phat Lip and collaborations with Broadway touring companies, orchestras, and renowned artists.
Education: B.M. in Music from the University of Miami (Frost School of Music), along with studies at the Fine Arts Center of Greenville and Christ Church Episcopal School.
Research interests focus on music education advocacy, jazz ensemble direction, and composition for small groups. He has led the JazzEd Ensemble in over 50 school outreach performances and helped the GJC raise $250,000 for music education initiatives.
Notable contributions include coordinating jazz events for organizations like The Peace Center and Greenville County Museum of Art, and composing works featured by the Asheville Original Music Series. His performances span jazz, classical, and Broadway genres.
