Mats Larhed is a Professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Uppsala University, where he also serves as Vice-Rector for Medicine and Pharmacy since 2020. His academic journey began with a Master of Science in Pharmacy in 1991, followed by appointments as Professor in Combinatorial Chemistry in 2007 and Professor in Medicinal Chemistry in 2015.
Dr. Larhed's research spans multiple areas of medicinal chemistry with particular expertise in:
- Design and synthesis of IRAP (Insulin-Regulated Aminopeptidase) inhibitors
- Angiotensin receptor ligands, particularly AT2 receptor research
- Application of microwave chemistry and flow chemistry techniques in drug discovery

- Drug discovery for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF)
