Mats Fahlman is a Professor and Head of Division/Unit at Linköping University's Department of Science and Technology (ITN) and the Laboratory of Organic Electronics (LOE). His research focuses on surface physics, chemistry, and organic electronics, particularly in energy materials and solar cell technology. He leads projects on organic and hybrid materials for applications in renewable energy and environmental sustainability.
Key research areas include interface energetics in solar cells, conductive polymers, and cellulose-based optoelectronic materials. His work has been supported by major grants, including SEK 44 million from the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE) for advanced equipment. Notable achievements include advancements in lignin-based organic solar cells and strategies to enhance perovskite solar cell efficiency.
He directs the Laboratory of Organic Electronics, which explores organic-inorganic hybrid systems and their applications in electronics and energy. His publications emphasize experimental studies using synchrotron-based spectroscopy and advanced material characterization techniques.
