Dan Zhao is an Associate Professor and Docent at Linköping University's Department of Science and Technology (ITN), part of the Laboratory of Organic Electronics (LOE). His research focuses on organic and composite materials for energy devices, sensors, and flexible electronics. Key areas include thermoelectric materials, polymer electrolytes, and nanocomposite systems.
He leads projects on printable energy systems and ultra-sensitive sensors, such as flexible heat sensors inspired by natural skin and MXene-based ammonia detectors. His work bridges material science with practical applications in wearable electronics and smart environments.
Notable contributions include thermoelectric supercapacitors powered by solar heating and evaporative cooling, and electrically tunable infrared optics using conducting polymer-cellulose composites. His research has been featured in journals like Advanced Energy & Sustainability Research and Advanced Science.
Zhao collaborates extensively within LOE, exploring organic-inorganic hybrid systems. His innovations aim to advance sustainable energy solutions and next-generation sensor technologies through interdisciplinary material innovation.
