Mathieu Girardet serves as a Lecturer and Director of the University Wind Symphony at Chapman University's Conservatory of Music within the College of Performing Arts. He concurrently directs the instrumental music program at Irvine Valley College. His expertise spans wind ensemble conducting, bass clarinet performance, and music pedagogy.
Education: B.M. degrees in Instrumental Music Education and Performance from California State University, Long Beach; M.M. in Clarinet Performance from the University of Michigan. Professional highlights include conducting roles with Orange County School of the Arts' Frederick Fennell Wind Ensemble and leading Chapman's acclaimed Wind Symphony.
Research interests focus on ensemble performance practices, clarinet pedagogy, and music education advocacy. His arrangements earned second prize at the University of Michigan's Briggs Chamber Music Competition.
Awards include the 2023 Shaun Naidoo Legacy Award recognizing his impactful teaching at Chapman. Engaged in professional organizations like SCSBOA and CBDNA, he frequently serves as a clinician and adjudicator across Southern California.
