معرفی
Professor Mathias Kläui is a leading condensed matter physicist at the Institute of Physics of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU). He holds a professorship in physics and serves as Director of the Materials Science in Mainz (MAINZ) Graduate School of Excellence. Additionally, he chairs the Gutenberg Council for Young Researchers, supporting early-career academics at JGU.
His research focuses on magnetic domain walls and their applications in advanced sensor technologies. Key projects include developing energy-efficient magnetic sensors capable of tracking thousands of revolutions, with potential impacts in automotive and automation industries. This work is supported by grants from the European Research Council (ERC), including a Proof of Concept Grant (2015) and a Starting Grant for his MASPIC project.
His innovative MultiRevolution Sensor concept leverages domain wall dynamics to overcome limitations of conventional angle sensors, offering scalable solutions for industrial applications. Kläui’s theoretical contributions, validated in laboratory settings, aim to bridge the gap between physics and commercialization.
- Awards: ERC Proof of Concept Grant (2015), ERC Starting Grant (2011).
- Labs/Teams: Condensed Matter Theory Group at JGU’s Institute of Physics.
- Future Work: Scaling sensor prototypes for industrial use within 18 months of project commencement.
