Mateusz Stalinski is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Warwick. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago. His research focuses on Political Economy and Behavioral Economics, with emphasis on media & polarization, opinion formation mechanisms, and regulatory challenges in digital platforms. He is affiliated with the Centre for Competitive Advantage in the Global Economy (CAGE) and teaches EC9C2: Empirical and Behavioral Political Economy at the graduate level.
His research integrates experimental methodologies to study real-world phenomena such as the economics of social media engagement, cognitive biases in decision-making, and the societal impacts of political polarization. Recent work explores how harmful content thrives on platforms despite its negative societal effects, and the role of sunk cost biases in economic choices.
Teaching responsibilities include advanced modules for MRes/PhD students, complemented by prior experience in applied economics courses. His research has been disseminated through field experiments and theoretical models addressing contemporary issues in digital governance and behavioral public policy.
