He has served in significant administrative roles including Director of the Department of Psychology and Vice-Chancellor at UIB, accumulating 262 months of academic management experience.
Professor Servera's research primarily focuses on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), with particular emphasis on Sluggish Cognitive Tempo, now referred to as Cognitive Disengagement Syndrome (CDS). His work examines the clinical distinction between CDS and various ADHD presentations across childhood and adolescence. He has published over 60 Impact Factor publications and served as Principal Investigator for six research grants under the National Research Plan. His research employs multi-informant methodologies, examining parental, teacher, and child self-reports to validate assessment tools and understand the external correlates of CDS.
His research trajectory shows a consistent focus on ADHD and related conditions, with recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrating continued productivity and relevance in the field. The work increasingly examines developmental trajectories from early childhood through adolescence, with strong methodological rigor using nationally representative Spanish samples. His research spans clinical, developmental, and assessment domains, with particular attention to differential diagnosis, comorbidity patterns, and measurement validation across informants and settings.
Professor Servera actively supervises doctoral students in the PhD program in Translational Research in Public Health and High Prevalence Diseases. He teaches multiple courses including Psychopathology, Psychological Intervention Techniques, and Intervention in Child and Adolescent Psychopathology across undergraduate and master's programs. His teaching spans both the Psychology degree program and the Master's Degree in General Health Psychology, demonstrating his commitment to training the next generation of clinicians and researchers.
He is a member of the Consolidated R+D+I Group 'Cognitive affective neuroscience & clinical psychology (CANCLIP)' at UIB, contributing to this research structure's work in behavior therapy, clinical psychology, and psychopathology. His professional network includes collaborations with international researchers across Spain, Chile, and the United States, reflecting the global impact of his work on ADHD and Cognitive Disengagement Syndrome.
