Massimo Ossi serves as Professor of Music in Musicology and Director of the Center for the History of Music Theory and Literature at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music.

His scholarly work appears in leading publications including the Journal of Musicology, Journal of the American Musicological Society, and Studi Musicali, along with authoritative reference works like The New Grove and MGG. He authored the seminal monograph Divining the Oracle: Aspects of Monteverdi's Seconda Prattica (University of Chicago Press, 2003) and serves as general editor for Music at the Courts of Italy.
