Massimo Morelli is a Professor of Political Science and Economics at Bocconi University and a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Cambridge. He serves as Director of the Pericles unit and chairs the Minorities in Economics (MinE) committee.

His research spans Game Theory, Political Economy, Institutional Design, Development Economics, Law and Economics, Comparative Politics, and International Relations, focusing on bargaining, economic conflict, and the rise of populism. Recent work examines the relationship between voter distrust, commitment politics, and illiberal populism through empirical and theoretical models.
Key publications include analyses of legislative complexity, populism's economic drivers, bureaucratic behavior under populist regimes, and conflict dynamics. His work has appeared in top journals like the American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, and Review of Economic Studies.
