Massimo Inguscio

Massimo Inguscio is a Professor of Physics at the University of Florence, specializing in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics. He has held this position since 1995 and has contributed significantly to high-precision spectroscopy, laser cooling, and quantum degenerate gases.

• Education: Master's and PhD in Physics, both cum laude, from the University of Pisa and Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa (1972 and 1976).

His research spans quantum optics, light-matter interaction, Bose-Einstein condensation, ultracold atomic gases, and Anderson localization in disordered systems. He pioneered sympathetic cooling techniques and achieved the first Italian BEC with Rubidium and Potassium atoms.

His scientific honors include the Sapienza University International Prize (2010), ERC Advanced Grant (2009), and Fellowships from the European Optical Society (2008), American Physical Society (2006), and Optical Society of America (2002).
