Florida Atlantic University - Boca Ratonمعرفی
Massimo Caputi, Ph.D. is a Professor of Biomedical Science at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, Florida Atlantic University. He holds an adjunct appointment in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at FAU since 2005 and previously served in various academic roles at FAU (2003-present) and Johns Hopkins University (2001-2003).
- Current research focuses on RNA-RNA binding protein interactions
- Developing microfluidic diagnostic devices for viral detection
- Investigating SRSF1's role in HIV-1 inhibition
Research Interests span HIV-1 molecular biology, alternative splicing regulation, and RNA-binding proteins. His lab employs genomic, cellular, and biochemical approaches to study:
- Mechanisms of HIV-1 transcription and splicing
- Role of SRSF1 in immune pathway modulation
- Host-pathogen interactions in tropical viruses
- Development of low-cost diagnostic microchips
- Regulation of T cell functions by RNA-binding proteins
Scientific Awards include the prestigious Human Frontier Science Program fellowship during postdoctoral work at UC Santa Cruz. His research has been continuously funded by NIH grants, including R01 awards.
