Massimo Cuomo is a Full Professor at the University of Catania's Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture (DICAR), where he also coordinates the PhD program in Urban and Territorial Risk Assessment and Mitigation. Professor Cuomo's research specializes in Computational Solid Mechanics with focus areas including:
- Isogeometric analysis for polar/nonpolar structural models
- Fracture mechanics and material damage modeling
- Multiphysics phenomena coupling mechanics with transport processes
- Geometric/material nonlinear system analysis
- Elastic-plastic deformations (infinitesimal/finite strain)
- Metamaterial design via homogenization techniques
- Non-standard material model applications
His research output includes over 200 publications in indexed journals and conferences. Bibliometric data (as of 2019) shows 70 Scopus-indexed works (30 journal articles) from the past decade, 1,200+ citations, and an H-index of 22. He leads doctoral research in urban risk mitigation but currently has no disclosed laboratory facilities or specific grant information.
