معرفی
Massimo Bertamini is an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering and the Agriculture, Food and Environment Center-C3A at the University of Trento. His research focuses on viticulture, plant physiology, and climate change adaptation, with particular emphasis on abiotic stress resistance, fruit quality, and precision agriculture techniques.
His research explores grapevine responses to environmental constraints, including:
- Climate change impacts on phenology and wine quality
- Canopy management strategies for microclimate optimization
- Genotypic variation in dormancy and frost tolerance
- Mineral nutrition and its role in plant functionality
- Delaying ripening techniques and their physiological basis
- Hyperspectral imaging for disease detection
Recent publications highlight his work on conservative summer pruning, late pruning effects, nitrogen-regulated transpiration, and multispectral camera applications for Flavescence dorée diagnosis. His teaching activities include courses on viticultural techniques and grapevine physiology, emphasizing practical vineyard management and genetic improvement opportunities.
Grapevine physiology and adaptation to stressors like drought, temperature fluctuations, and nutrient imbalances form core themes of his work, often integrating molecular approaches with field-scale applications. He investigates the interplay between canopy density and photosystem stability, as well as source-sink relationships during berry development.
