Massimo Avian

Massimo Avian is an Associate Professor of Zoology at the Department of Life Sciences (DSV) of the University of Trieste, Italy. He is based in Building M, room B/25 at via Giorgieri 10, 34127 Trieste, where he conducts research and teaching in marine biology and zoology.

Dr. Avian's research focuses on marine biodiversity with specialized expertise in cnidarian taxonomy and ecology, particularly jellyfish classification systems including Scyphozoa, Cubozoa, and Staurozoa. His work contributes significantly to understanding marine ecosystem dynamics and biodiversity patterns in the Mediterranean region.

His primary publication demonstrates expertise in jellyfish systematics, forming part of a comprehensive approach to invertebrate zoology. This research aligns with broader departmental interests in marine-coastal systems, invasive species impacts, and biodiversity conservation.
