Massimiliano Perduca

Massimiliano Perduca holds dual academic appointments as an External Teacher at Ca' Foscari University of Venice's Department of Molecular Sciences and Nanosystems, and as a Researcher (BIO/11) at the University of Verona's Biotechnology Department since January 2004. He completed his education at the University of Pavia (Laurea in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Technology, 1997) and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Verona.

His research spans structural biology (protein crystallography, lipocalin proteins, lectins), nanotechnology (PLGA nanoparticles, drug delivery systems), and biomedical applications (anticancer therapeutics, osteoarthritis treatments). Current projects include nanostructures for pharmaceutical/cosmetic use and hydrogen production. He maintains international collaborations across 10+ countries including Spain, Austria, and Tunisia.

Publication analysis reveals strong focus on nanomedicine (58% of recent works) and protein structural studies (33%), with therapeutic applications against cancer, neurological disorders, and inflammatory conditions. His laboratory develops nanoparticle-based delivery systems for compounds like ketamine and α-bisabolol.

• Fifth prize in Veneto Startcup Competition (Nanoverse Startup)

Academic Contributions: Supervised 85+ theses across Master’s and PhD levels. Secured multiple grants including Cooperint projects (2018-2019) and BioNanoScreen joint project (2015). Served as Department representative for Master’s in Bio/Nanomaterials since 2013 and PhD program coordinator (2004-2009).

Laboratory Leadership: Heads the Biocrystallography and Nanostructure Laboratory at University of Verona, focusing on protein structure analysis and nanomaterial synthesis.
