Massiel Torres Ulloa is a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Presidential Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Effron Center for the Study of America, Princeton University. Her work examines genealogies of dissent, rebellion, and evasion among Black and Afro-descendant communities in the Caribbean, with emphasis on Afro-diasporic spiritualities, gender-creative practices, and communal memory stewardship. She is currently developing a monograph titled 'Ordinary Freedoms: The Everyday of Black Rebellion in Hispaniola,' focused on the Maroon community of Los Mina.
