Masixole Booi serves as Lecturer and Coordinator of the Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education (PGDip HE) National Programme at Rhodes University, affiliated with the Centre for Higher Education Research, Teaching and Learning (CHERTL).
His academic credentials include a BA (Hons) in Political Science from Nelson Mandela University and an MA in International and Political Studies from Rhodes University. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies.
Booi’s research critically examines higher education transformation in post-apartheid South Africa, with emphasis on curriculum decolonization, institutional culture change, and epistemic justice. His work bridges Africana existential philosophy with practical challenges in academic development, particularly regarding demographic equity in historically white universities.
His publications reveal a consistent focus on systemic barriers to transformation in South African higher education, analyzing both policy implementation gaps and philosophical foundations for decolonial practice. His role as PGDip HE Coordinator positions him at the forefront of national academic staff development initiatives.
