Masahide Kashiwagi serves as a Professor at Waseda University's School of Fundamental Science and Engineering within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Holding a Doctor of Engineering degree, he is formally affiliated with the Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics and maintains active research and teaching roles as of 2025.
His research spans Numerical Analysis with Guaranteed Accuracy, Nonlinear System Modeling, and Digital Analysis Theory, with significant contributions to interval arithmetic optimization and chaotic sequence applications. Key projects include JSPS-funded work on stream cipher systems using nonlinear maps (1997-1999) and construction of digital analysis frameworks (2008-2010), where he organized seminars uniting 16 researchers in discrete mathematics and numerical computation.
Kashiwagi teaches graduate courses including Master's Thesis supervision, Research on Numerical Analysis, and specialized seminars (A-D levels), alongside undergraduate offerings in Numerical Analysis B, Applied Mathematics Laboratory, and Fundamental Programming A. His concurrent appointment at the Waseda Research Institute for Science and Engineering (2024-2026) supports cross-disciplinary collaboration on computational mathematics applications.
His methodological innovations include error-compensated integration for differential equations using mean-value theorem corrections and linear programming-enhanced interval arithmetic that resolves overestimation issues. Current work extends power series operation frameworks to high-order derivative calculations and numerical integration, maintaining focus on practical implementations for engineering design validation.
