Dr. María Pilar Villodre is a Professor of Spanish at Roberts Wesleyan University, where she has shaped the Spanish program since 1999. Specializing in contemporary Peninsular literature, her work centers on 20th- and 21st-century Spanish narratives, cultural memory, and post-Franco identity, with a focus on the works of Antonio Muñoz Molina.
- Education: Ph.D. in Spanish Literature (University of Buffalo), M.A. in Spanish Pedagogy (Brigham Young University), B.A./M.A. in Spanish (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid), and additional studies at the University of Barcelona.
Her research explores themes like historical amnesia in democratic Spain, divergent exile trajectories, and postmodern representations of Francoist legacy. She has presented at major conferences including the University of Kentucky and University of Ottawa. At Roberts, she teaches advanced courses in Spanish literature, cinema, and composition, emphasizing cultural fluency and critical analysis.
