María Luisa Mena Durán is an Associate Professor in the Department of Legal Sciences at UCH CEU. She currently serves as Vice-Dean of the Law degree program (since February 2025) and teaches Civil Law in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Her research focuses on AI's impact on legal frameworks, algorithmic contracts, and digital transformation in law.
Education: PhD in Law from King's College London (thesis: 'Artificial Intelligence in Contract Formation'), Law Degree from UCH CEU (1999), and a Master's in Transnational Law from King's College London (2019).
Research & Teaching: Coordinates the 'Law in the Digital Age' teaching innovation project (2023-2026) and collaborates with institutions like ESADE, IE, and Lex Latin. Active in research groups such as 'AI, Humanity, Law and Justice' and 'Computational Methods for Modeling Physical Processes'.
Awards: Recognized for her contributions to legal technology research, including the 2024 Ángel Herrera Prize. Serves on the Advisory Board of 'The Technolawgist' and contributes to journals like EuCML.
Professional Experience: 25 years in legal practice, member of the Valencia Bar Association, and advisor on law & technology. International speaker at conferences hosted by institutions like Humboldt-Universität and the University of Oxford.
