Dr María B. Sánchez Puccini is a Research Associate in Physiotherapy at the Health Professions Department, Manchester Metropolitan University, affiliated with the Institute of Sport. She holds a PhD in Healthcare Science (Manchester Metropolitan University) and an MSc in Biomechanics of Gait and Posture (Liverpool John Moores University). Her research focuses on biomechanical analysis of human movement, particularly trunk movement quantification in conditions like cerebral palsy and lower back pain, alongside patellofemoral pain (PFP) epidemiology. She collaborates in multidisciplinary teams combining clinical, health science, and computer science expertise.
Teaching responsibilities include leading the elective placement for physiotherapy students and contributing to modules like 'Biomechanical Analysis of the Lower Limb' and 'Maximising Performance'. She supervises Master’s and doctoral students, including a current PhD project on Femoroacetabular Impingement Syndrome rehabilitation. Key projects include developing 3D trunk movement models and cultural validation of the SNAPPS tool for PFP prevalence assessment in Latin America.
Her work emphasizes translating biomechanical insights into clinical practice, aiming to improve patient outcomes through evidence-based interventions. She has published in high-impact journals and presented research globally.
